Staying on the Path

In a new generation where we spend hours each day looking at our phones, media has never had more control over our opinions of ourselves and of others. And now, in the midst of a pandemic, the influence is all too easily further increased, with most of us stuck at home with not much else to do other than look at our phones. ‘How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word’- Psalm 119:9. Living in the current times I feel like it is even harder than ever for young people to battle the ways of the world in order to live to the ways of the word. We are not encouraged to live by our own standards and morals but pressured into living by the ways of others which in turn is unfulfilling and disheartening. With all this extra time it is even easier to be tainted by the lies of the media whilst we search for truth in a crisis, rather than turning to the only one who can offer us this.

Pray. There’s a reason why it feels so good after you pray, or go to church, or engage in a worship session. God is here for you now and you probably have more time than ever to strengthen and deepen your relationship.

Jesus invited the outcasts, the not good enoughs, the lepers to be family with him and he invites them as they are. The Bible is the greatest source of comfort because it offers us real truth, and real confidence to be who God created us to be. We are in the middle of a pandemic and God loves you even if all you did today was get out of bed and eat breakfast, no matter what social media may tell you or make you feel like and, in these times, that is a real truth that you can hold on to.
